Owners Clive and Patricia Wilson have tapped into racing’s resources to raise funds in memory of their daughter Lisa, who died in a car crash six years ago.
The couple, who named their Brendan Powell-trained all-weather specialist after their charity Lisathedaddy, recently raised more than £10,000 in aid of the Lisa Wilson Scholarship Fund, which offers financial help to students hoping to attend higher education.
The fundraising evening at the Holiday Inn, Southampton, was attended by Powell and fellow trainer Mick Channon.
Auction prizes included a day at the races with Lisathedaddy, as well as donations offered by celebrities Celine Dion, Sting, Leonardo Di Caprio and Nicole Kidman.
Grove Court Stud, home of Lisathedaddy’s sire Darnay, has offered three coverings by the stallion to raise additional funds.
Sarah Hamilton, Darnay’s owner, said: “We follow all Darnay’s progeny. I heard about what the Wilsons were doing and am happy to donate the covering fees. The mare’s owner can make a donation to the charity.”
