Beatles evening raises £1600

A rousing night at Eastleigh Football Club saw over 125 people attend a fund raiser just a few days after Lisa’s 25th birthday. Most of the guests made the effort to dress up in true 60’s style and really let their hair down. The group the Phoney Beatles did two sets, one from the Sgt. Peppers era, and the highlight of the evening was the last session which played hit after hit from their great repertoire.

The Lisa Wilson Varsity Cup match

Southampton University beat Southampton Institute 1-0 in a competitive match that was attended by over 750 spectators. The game was played on March 15th – Lisa’s birthday – at the Sparshatt Stadium, Eastleigh FC’s home ground. The weather could have been kinder but it didn’t dampen the spirits of the spectators who got behind their teams to cheer them on. The trophy was presented to the winning captain by none other than ‘Le God’ himself Matthew Le Tissier. He also presented Uni keeper Inigo Sarriegui with a bottle of bubbly for the ‘man of the match’. The game followed earlier games in the day of rugby and hockey in which the University took a clean sweep of all three events. It is hoped that the fixture will take place again next year at Eastleigh.

The game raised over £2000 for the charity.

Eastleigh Football Club gala dinner raises £4500

The Devere Grand Harbour Hotel Southampton was the setting for Eastleigh Football Club’s first Gala Dinner which took place on Saturday 28th February.

Over two hundred guests attended the event, including a host of celebrities including former England cricketer Robin Smith, Hampshire and one day England star Shaun Udell, and Matt Le Tissier. The evening was held to raise funds for the building of the new grandstand at Eastleigh this summer. At the end of the evening a limited edition print, donated by World Cup Winning goalkeeper Gordon Banks, was auctioned on behalf of Lisa’s Charity. The print signed by every surviving member of the 1966 World Cup winning team eventually sold to Elliott Trodd of Enfields Property Services for the amazing sum of £4500.

Shaun Monaghan raises £244

Our good friend Shaun Monaghan raised £244 running in the Bristol half marathon for Lisa’s Charity, and with gift aid this should increase by about 20%. We were hoping to publish a picture of Shaun but to date he’s forgotten to send us one!

Thanks a lot Shaun.
