July 29th saw the Fourth Lisa Wilson Golf Day take place at Wellow where Lisa worked and played golf. Nearly 150 people played on the day with a members’ competition and friends and family competition. Whilst the weather was a little wet at times, golfers seemed to be quite happy to get some respite from the baking sun. The evening cabaret starred comedian and singer Steve Womack who was on top form and well supported by ‘Soul Diva’ Danielle. There were some beautiful trophies and a whole host of lovely raffle prizes. A DVD, ‘Lisa’s Legacy’ produced by Lisa’s brother Ross was shown and the announcement of breaking the £100,000 barrier was made on the night. Lisa’s mum Tricia came second to Sue Bakewell in the Ladies guest competition, and Lisa’s brother Scott came second to Will Cheater in the men’s guest competition. The winners of the members’ competitions were ladies’ Margi Burt, men’s D G Lewis and junior Ryan Burgess. Congratulations to you all.
World Cup tickets & Stars In Your Eyes evening raise £1600 for charities
A pair of world cup tickets were raffled raising £1350 to be shared between The Lisa Wilson Scholarship Fund, the Sir Steve Redgrave Trust, The Helen Rollinson Charity and others. The tickets for England’s World Cup Quarter Final were donated by Yahoo to Gus McKechnie who is currently carrying out fundraising for several charities. Despite the short notice, 27 of the tickets were sold at £50 each. The lucky winners worked for Bosal UK – all the tickets were sold to colleagues and suppliers to
Southern Exhaust Supplies.
A Stars in Your Eyes evening saw Heather Jessiman win first prize against fierce competition beating former Saint Nicky Banger (Elvis) into second place. Lisa’s dad Clive donned the berret once again to appear as the infamous Frank Spencer – this impression always used to embarrass Lisa. Some £250 was made from a bucket collection and raffle on the night which took part at the Footlights Public House in Southampton. Once again the evening had been organised by Gus and the funds will be split between the charities.
Varsity football match raises £770
A dissapointing crowd at the home of Eastleigh Football Club saw Southampton Solent University run out winners against Southampton University to win the Lisa Wilson Varsity cup. Former Saint Nicky Banger presented the trophy to the winning captain.
Bee Gees Fever night raises over £4000
One of the UK’s top tribute bands Bee Gees Fever performed to over 125 people on Saturday march 11th at Eastleigh Football Club. With donations, ticket sales, and a raffle, over £4000 was raised for the charity on what was a memorable night. Many people took the opportunity to dress up ’70s style and strut their funky stuff. Lead singer ‘Barry Gibb’ lookalike had performed in the final of Stars in Your Eyes.
We would like to thank everyone for their support.
Celine Dion autographed photograph raises an amazing £1600
A beautifully framed and signed photograph given to the charity by Celine Dion raised an amazing £1600 at the recent Eastleigh Football Club Viva Las Vegas fundraiser. Clive and Tricia had met Celine’s husband Renee after her New Day Show in Las Vegas last year. The picture had been signed and sent to them to help with the fundraising.
No one could have anticipated such an amazing bid for which we are extremely grateful.
