Golf Day brings in over £5000 for Lisa’s charity
Saturday August 21st marked the 8th Annual Lisa Wilson Golf Day at Wellow Golf Club where Lisa worked and played golf. Around 120 members and 40 guests played in separate competitions.
In the evening Geeta Uppal from Southampton Solent University spoke about the charity and the 43 students who had benefited from the bursaries they received. Ali Lalani, one of the students who this year graduates with a BA 2-1 in Leisure Management, gave a moving speech about the difference the bursary had made to him. Ali represents Great Britain in Boccia (a sport similar to Bowls) and dedicated his World Championship medal to Lisa’s memory. He is now focussed on the 2012 paralympics.
Clive Wilson gave a review of the charity year with a dvd of him carrying out the Nevis High Wire Bungy Jump in New Zealand this year on Lisa’s birthday, March 15th, when he raised £2500 for the charity.
After the prize giving, Martin Murphy kicked off the entertainment and was followed on stage by 70’s hit band “The Real Thing’ who did an hour set including their number one hit ‘You to me are everything’. With some 200 members and guests the clubhouse was really rocking to another highly successful golf day in Lisa’s memory.

In an email following the run, Dave said “Since receiving the Lisa Wilson award on graduation and learning about the scholarship fund, I have been looking for a sponsorship opportunity and pleased that I can add in small way to the fund.”
After graduating from Southampton Institute, Dave studied to become a chartered accountant, and in 2008 he started up his own accountancy business which is doing very well.
Thank you Dave for your support, and congratulations on your amazing run.
Clive’s Leap of Faith raises over £2000
Last month, on Lisa’s birthday, Clive jumped from the highest bungy in New Zealand and raised £2389 for the charity.
He has written an account of his adventure which you can read here.. The Leap of Faith that raised over £2000
Clive did it!
“The rush was extreme, couldn’t believe the speed as I dived into the abyss.”
Our intrepid jumper, Clive Wilson.
Yesterday, on Lisa’s birthday, Clive did the highest bungy in the world, jumping from 134 meters above the rugged Nevis River in Queenstown, New Zealand. Not many people would have the nerves to do it, Lisa would have been very proud.
