On Saturday March 15th a fund raising evening took place at the Holiday Inn Southampton in aid of the Lisa Wilson Scholarship Fund.
The event was made more special because this would have been Lisa’s 29th birthday.
Around 150 guests attended the evening from all over the country which was hosted by local comedian Mike Osman. The evening took took on a horse racing theme and a number of races were shown of Lisathedaddy for people to bet on. Former Grand National winner and trainer of Lisathedaddy Brendan Powell was the special guest.
Before the racing Lisa’s father Clive Wilson spoke about Lisa’s amazing legacy, the charity having now raised over 125,000 pounds means Lisa’s legacy will be at least 125 years of education, a wonderful legacy to a wonderful girl. The bursaries are for students who have overcome some adversity, to date 27 students have benefited. He also spoke about how Lisathedaddy, his wife’s horse that had been named after Lisa’s e-mail address, had helped to promote the charity by her success on the racecourse. The Wilson family are happy that Lisa is still ‘touching’ the lives of other people some five years after her untimely death.
An auction was held for many items of memorabilia which had been provided by local heroes Lawrie McMenemy, Matt Le Tissier and Mick Channon, plus trainer Brendan Powell and a day at the races with Lisathedaddy from Clive and Tricia. Other providers of auction prizes included Celine Dion, Sting, Leonardo Di Caprio and Nicole Kidman a truly amazing line up. All in all over ten thousand pounds was raised on the night.
The raffle was made up of donated items including various days at the races, a hot air balloon flight,a spa day and many other items kindly donated by local companies.
The evening was rounded off with dancing to ‘Hypnosis’ a great band from Stoke on Trent who partied through until 1am.
Clive and Tricia would like to express their gratitude for everyone who helped make the event a great success.

In an exciting class 2 race, Lisatheadaddy ran well to be beaten on the line into third place. After a lay off of 100 days she ran in her biggest race to date and this should bring her on well ready for her next race probably on Saturday 26th of January.
Following Lisathedaddy’s great race at glorious Goodwood where she finished fourth, she went on to run another great race at Doncaster in a quality field and the day before Tricia’s birthday on September 21st she came in second also at Newbury. She is now having a rest for two months with a view of coming back to the all weather in December nice and fresh.
